Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-50 is a synthetic, biologically active lipopeptide with the sequence Pal-Pro-Hyp-Pro-Hyp. It contains two well-studied Pro-Hyp (Prolyl Hydroxyproline) biologically active motifs with dermal fibroblast-stimulating activity found in collagen hydrolysates.
Studies have shown that Prolyl Hydroxyproline (Pro-Hyp) matrikine promotes fibroblast proliferation and migration and plays a crucial role in wound healing and skin regeneration. Furthermore, it stimulates dermal fibroblasts and enhances GAG (glycosaminoglycans) production, particularly hyaluronic acid.
According to the manufacturer's claim, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-50 enhances the expression of the Hyaluronan synthase 2 (HAS2) enzyme, promoting hyaluronic acid production and improving skin hydration, elasticity, and surface texture. It reduces transdermal moisture loss, smooths fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin's density.
Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-50 is included as a core peptide in an advanced peptide-based complex, called X50® Hyalufiller, where it is encapsulated in a PLGA/PVA polymeric shell, and guided with a fibroblast targeting peptide. In this complex, it is delivered into fibroblasts, enabling its anti-aging potential.
