Decapeptide-4 is a synthetic peptide known under the trade name CG-IDP2 that mimics the Somatomedin C (IGF-1) growth factor involved in normal skin growth, healing, and wound repair. It repeats the 52-61 aminocaid sequence of (Cys-Asp-Leu-Arg-Arg-Leu-Glu-Met-Tyr-Cys) of the Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1).
Supporting the active generation of new skin cells, Decapeptide-4 reduces and prevents fine lines and wrinkles according to the manufacturer's claim. It boosts both keratinocytes and fibroblast cell proliferation in just 72 hours. Applied topically, it increases collagen and elastin production, improving skin elasticity and firmness.
Decapeptide-4 is also used as an anabolic peptide in preparations for injections in fatty tissue. It blocks the production of new triglycerides and restructures subcutaneous adipose tissue.
In hair care applications, Decapeptide-4 activates the division and differentiation of hair papilla stem cells, stimulating the growth of strong, healthy hair. It is used in peptide cocktails to restore hair growth.
