sh-Polypeptide-11 (former rh-Oligopeptide-13; rh-Polypeptide-11) is a single-chain synthetic recombinant analog of acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor (aFGF or FGF1) known under the trade name CG-aFGF. It stimulates dermal cell (especially fibroblasts) proliferation and growth, boosting collagen and elastin production and providing an uplifted appearance.

Randomized, multicenter, double-blind, and placebo-controlled clinical trials showed that topical administration of rh-aFGF accelerates wound healing and shortens the recovery period. Due to its large molecular size, it can't penetrate through the stratum corneum, but when packed in liposomes, it easily rich deeper layers, noticeably stimulating fibroblast and keratinocyte proliferation.

sh-Polypeptide-11 also enhances primary hair cell proliferation, promoting hair growth and improving strength. In addition, it enhances the proliferation of blood vessel endothelial cells, improving vascularization and blood circulation. Although a study with rh-FGF1 investigating the angiogenesis potential revealed a small enhancement, but with no statistically significant difference.

Thanks to potent antioxidant action, sh-Polypeptide-11 reduces free radicals and inhibits the aging of skin cells, blocking cell programmed death and function failures. In addition, it reinforces the skin's natural defenses and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles.

sh-Polypeptide-11 is a safe, effective, and skin-compatible ingredient for high-end anti-aging and hair care applications and popular peptide-based complexes like Bio Placenta.
