Oligopeptide-20 is a synthetic peptide that mimics Somatomedin (Insulin-like growth factor 1; IGF1), involved in normal skin growth, healing, and wound repair. It increases cell proliferation of skin keratinocytes and fibroblasts, activating and accelerating the restoration of damaged skin.
Oligopeptide-20 repeat part of the sequence of IGF1 (103-114) Arg-Arg-Leu-Glu-Met-Tyr-Cys-Ala-Pro-Leu-Lys-Pro, and is known under the trade name CG-IDP5. It strengthens the walls of microvessels in vegetative-vascular dystonia, evens out skin tone, and rebuilds skin layers. It thickens the epidermis and dermal structures, promoting skin tightening.
Boosting collagen and elastin production, Oligopeptide-20 improves skin elasticity, suppleness, and firmness. The topical application reduces lines and wrinkles, helping to prevent their formation.
Oligopeptide-20 showed positive regulation of collagen and elastin, and fibronectin expression. Increased expression of collagen (1.4-fold), fibronectin (4.3-fold), and elastin (1.4-fold) was observed in fibroblast cell cultures. It is used in products for sensitive, atopic skin and anti-aging serums.
