Octapeptide-2 is a synthetic peptide, a fragment of Thymosin β4, that strengthens hair and promotes its growth. It has the sequence Lys-Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln and is also known under the trade name Prohairlin-β4.

Boosting follicle stem cell development and activity, Octapeptide-2 promotes hair growth. In addition, it accelerates cell migration in hair follicles and inhibits apoptosis, reinforcing hair and imparting a healthy shine.

Moreover, Octapeptide-2 inhibits protease production, restoring hair growth. In addition, it stimulates the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and fibronectin by fibroblasts, accelerating wound healing, angiogenesis, and regenerative processes, and leaving an anti-aging effect on the skin.

Compared with native hair-boosting proteins, Prohairlin-beta4 is more stable and has a prolonged action. Octapeptide-2 is used in high-end hair growth-stimulating shampoos, masks, and serums.
