Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4 (formerly Myristoyl Pentapeptide-3) is a synthetic lipo-peptide sold under the trade name Collasyn 514KS, an ester of Myristic acid (attached to the N-terminus) and KTTKS peptide with sequence Myr-Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser. It is an analog of a famous Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, the first peptide in the superstar Matrixyl™ line.
Repeating a pro-collagen I amino acid sequence fragment, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4 stimulates extracellular matrix (ECM) component production. It is used in skin, scalp, and eye care applications, as well as in decorative cosmetics (leave-on products), at a 0.05% concentration.
Combined with Folixyl® (Acetyl tetrapeptide-3) and GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1), Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4, when packed in nanoliposomes, was tested for its ability to promote hair growth. The peptide-based complex promoted the proliferation of keratinocytes and dermal papilla cells, showing promising results in hair growth and suggested as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia.
Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4 is safe at cosmetic concentrations and an effective anti-aging and hair-care ingredient. According to the manufacturer, it has lower irritation potential compared with similar peptides and can be used at higher concentrations.
