Myristoyl Hexapeptide-4 is a hydrophilic peptide rich in the essential amino acid threonine with sequence Myr-Thr-Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser-NH2, which is more bioactive, thanks to modifications during production. It is known under the trade name SymPeptide® 230.
It boosts the production of skin's structural proteins and inhibits the synthesis of MMP-1, the enzyme responsible for collagen degradation.
In vitro studies showed that Myristoyl Hexapeptide-4 upregulates genes responsible for synthesizing collagen IV and VII, fibronectin, elastin, and integrin. In addition, it downregulates genes responsible for MMP-1 production, thereby preventing collagen degradation and increasing collagen levels.
Myristoyl Hexapeptide-4 makes skin firmer and smoother and improves elasticity. Moreover, it promotes skin hydration and helps to maintain a healthy balance.Synonyms
