Myristoyl Tripeptide-31 is a synthetic multifunctional lipopeptide with retinoid-like anti-aging effects on the skin. It has the sequence Myr-Gly-Leu-Phe and is known under the trade name DermaPep™ A350.
The Gly-Leu-Phe motif is known as an immunostimulating peptide, found in human α-lactalbumin (69-72) and in several plant extract peptide fractions. Early research on rodents showed its anti-alopecia effect, hypothesizing that it is mediated by histamine release.
Manufacturers conducted in vitro and in vivo studies showing that Myristoyl Tripeptide-31 is highly effective at reversing photoaging-related changes, such as wrinkles and mottled hyperpigmentation.
According to the manufacturer's claims, Myristoyl tripeptide-31 smooths fine lines and wrinkles of the face and body, increasing collagen production. Its anti-aging action includes normalization of the skin's response to environmental stimuli, such as UV irradiation. When incorporated into skincare products, it can serve as an alternative to retinol and retinoids, with no side effects and at minimal concentrations, such as 0.1%.See also
