Polysilicone-15 is a polymeric UV-B filter with a polysiloxane backbone to which UV-B absorbing chromophores are attached. Thanks to its silicone backbone, it offers additional benefits, such as improved combing and shine.

Polysilicone-15 has a unique safety profile, primarily due to its large molecular size. This silicone UV filter also possesses inherent conditioning properties on the hair fiber and shows superior deposition upon rinsing.

Polysilicone-15 is a liquid that can also be advantageously used in leave-on formulations, where it does not crystallize after the formulation has dried on the hair. It protects amino acids such as Tryptophan and Cysteine in hair from solar exposure. The UV-B radiation is responsible for the degradation of amino acids in the hair cuticle. In addition, protection is also adequate for artificially colored hair.

Incorporated into hair mousses, Polysilicone-15 enhances hair combability, reducing the force required for combing. This effect is equally impressive for virgin Asian hair and damaged Caucasian hair (bleached and permanently colored). Meanwhile, this multifunctional ingredient protects hair from environmental stress.
