Galanga (Alpinia Galanga, also known as Galangal) is a medicinal edible herb from the Zingiberaceae family. It grows in Southeast Asia and has been used in traditional Oriental medicine due to its antimicrobial, analgesic, and insecticidal properties.

Galangal rhizomes have been used for the treatment of stomachaches, ulcers, and tumors. Alpinia Galanga is also a valuable aromatic plant in traditional cuisine, cosmetic preparations, and as a natural aphrodisiac. In modern medicine, various Galanga extracts are used as an anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agent, as well as an emmenagogue and anti-parasitic agent.

Incorporated in skin care applications, Alpinia Galanga Leaf Extract stimulates the production of hyaluronic acid. It improves skin appearance by reducing shadows, making skin look more radiant, and minimizing visible signs of lines and wrinkles.

Thanks to increased high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, Alpinia Galanga Leaf Extract is used in specialized applications where it exhibits volume-increasing properties:
  • removes shadows/rings under the eyes,
  • fine lines around the mouth,
  • shadows under the chin.

Galangal leaf extract is particularly effective in treating skin that becomes slack after weight loss. Due to its antibacterial properties, it is also used in anti-acne products.
