Identifier
CIG-854

MelaCare oil is a blend of three oils derived from traditional medicinal plants, with skin-whitening, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Composition contains a balanced formula of Eremanthus Erythropappus (Candeia Tree) Branch/Leaf Oil, Oxalis Triangularis Oil, and Camellia Japonica Seed Oil.

The manufacturer conducted tests using B16 melanoma cells, showing that MelaCare oil inhibits melanin production but is less effective than the industry-standard (for testing) hydroquinone; on the other hand, it is very safe to the skin.

MelaCare oil blocks cAMP activation, interrupting the pathway induced by MC1R (the receptor for the alpha-MSH hormone, activated after UV exposure), and inhibits the gene expression of the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for melanin production.

The manufacturer conducted a clinical trial, with a preparation containing 1% MelaCare-Oil applied topically to 10 participants (healthy Korean women), that showed a whitening effect as investigated by clinical observation, colorimetry, and questionnaires. Also, it did not show significant evidence of primary irritation.
