Lipochroman®, also known as lipochroman-6 or Dimethylmethoxy chromanol, is an extraordinary molecule that fights against all radicals, protecting from a broad spectrum of reactive species and premature skin aging. It is designed to scavenge the most dangerous RNS (Reactive Nitrogen Species) and ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) that harm the skin's lipid barrier, cell DNA, and essential enzymes. The significance of these species in connection with skin aging has been established. In particular, peroxynitrite has been linked to lipid peroxidation and cell damage.

Comparative studies of antioxidant activity have shown that Dimethylmethoxy chromanol is a more potent antioxidant than popular skincare ingredients such as Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Resveratrol, and BHT. In addition, Lipochroman-6 is a remarkable molecule that can capture both nitrogen and oxygen radicals, making it one of the most potent oxygen-radical scavengers.

Another study showed that Dimethylmethoxy chromanol effectively quenches singlet oxygen, which is not considered a radical but is associated with photooxidation processes that lead to skin ageing. Researchers also confirmed its potentiating action, combined with relevant antioxidants such as turmeric root or spirulina extracts, used in anti-aging applications.

In addition to robust antioxidant activity, Dimethylmethoxy chromanol exhibits outstanding long-term stability in products. Many potent antioxidants lose their activity when stored in solution for extended periods, whereas lipochroman-6 maintains and even enhances its antioxidant activity.

F.A.Q.

How effective is Dimethylmethoxy chromanol?

The excellent capacity of this crucial antioxidant is also conferred in the final formulation were at the same tested concentration, 0.05%, Lipochroman™  showed an ability 82 folds higher than, for instance, the notable antioxidant BHT.

NEW TEST RESULTS

Oxidative Stress Assay on Human Derman Fibroblasts: Dimethylmethoxy chromanol  vs. Resveratrol

The latest results keep this double activity ingredient on-trend among the most acclaimed antioxidants with tested efficacy to neutralize the potentially damaging reactive species.

The antioxidative Power of Lipochroman-6 appeared to be comparatively higher than in other well-known cosmetic antioxidants, such as Resveratrol. Furthermore, Oxidative Stress Assay proved Lipochroman™ capacity to protect human dermal fibroblasts against oxidative stress by an 80% in cell viability improvement.
