Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate (SLHS) is a mixture of sulfonated alkyl mono- and polygucosides derived from renewable (partially natural) raw materials. This surfactant is an alkyl glucoside derivative and a mild cleansing agent with less irritation potential developed as a replacement for traditional primary surfactants, such as sulfates, in personal care products.
Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate is water-soluble, exhibits good foaming properties, and is compatible with most popular ingredients used in cleansing applications. According to the manufacturer's claim, it is milder than sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium coco-sulfate, and sodium laureth sulfate. It is suitable for low- or non-irritating shampoos (to skin and eyes), face and body washes, bath gels, and baby care products.
Thanks to its dense, stable foam, Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate also improves the final product's aesthetic properties. It is readily biodegradable, stable over the wider pH range, improves performance, and works well with other surfactants in formulations.
Manufacturer-conducted toxicological tests showed that Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate is non-irritating to skin and eyes in cosmetic concentrations, non-sensitizing, non-genotoxic, and has low toxicity to aquatic organisms.
