Biosaccharide Gum-1 is an anionic biotechnological polysaccharide obtained by a bacterial fermentation process and is accepted for organic cosmetics. It is a moisturizing, soothing, anti-aging, and hair-sheathing cosmetic active ingredient providing a soft touch to formulations.

Biosaccharide Gum-1 is a natural polymer composed of simple sugars like L-fucose, D-galactose, and galacturonic acid. These sugars naturally occur in the skin, either free or bound to glycolipids, glycoproteins, or polysaccharides, and play a vital role in cellular communication. For example, L-fucose notably has a strong affinity for receptors that regulate the inflammatory response on the surface of keratinocytes.

Like other similar polysaccharides, Biosaccharide Gum-1 also has excellent moisturizing properties by forming a non-occlusive aqueous film on the skin's surface, reducing water loss and providing a soft touch to the skin and hair.

Combined with Hyaluronic acid, it has been tested in vaginal gel and showed good results in the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy. It reduced vaginal dryness in postmenopausal women while improving sexual function and quality of life.

Biosaccharide Gum-1 is a safe, natural, and effective ingredient for the care of sensitive and reactive skin and is perfectly suitable for dry, dehydrated, weakened, or damaged skin. It is also used in many anti-aging applications and hair care products.
