Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone is a clear, hazy, colorless straw liquid. It is a polysiloxane polyalkyl polyether block copolymer designed as a silicone emulsifier for water-in-oil emulsions.

Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone is soluble in aromatic, aliphatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, as well as paraffin and ester oils. It is insoluble in water and alcohol.

The chemical structure of Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone allows the incorporation of ingredients that would typically destabilize the emulsion. It is used as a water-in-oil emulsifier in creams, lotions, and other personal care products. As a co-emulsifier, it can be used in oil-in-water emulsions.

Enabling cold process manufacturing, Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone can even be helpful in multiple water-oil-water (W/O/W) emulsions. Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone can be used in various personal care formulations, and the amount required depends on the specific type of application. It also aids the emulsification of paraffin and silicone fluids, as well as fatty acid esters and vegetable triglycerides (some of which are difficult to emulsify).

Cetyl PEG/PPG-7/3 Dimethicone is non-hazardous with a deficient order of toxicity, although contact with the skin or the eyes may cause irritation.
