Bioecolia is an alpha-glucan oligosaccharide, obtained from sucrose and maltose (natural sugars) via enzymatic synthesis. It is a white powder with a sweet odor, highly soluble in water.

Thanks to α(1→2) bonds at the nonreducing end of the oligosaccharide (see image), Bioecolia has excellent resistance against human enzymes. It is selectively metabolized by dermal saprophytic microbiota, which makes it an excellent prebiotic for cosmetic applications.

An organic prebiotic, Bioecolia stimulates the growth of beneficial flora to maintain a healthy microbial balance. This balance helps to revitalise skin's functions, restore healthy regulation, and sebum production. It assists the skin barrier, improving defense against the environmental damaging factors and accelerated aging.

Combined with lactic acid, Bioecolia preparation (Floragel) was tested for bacterial vaginosis and showed promising results. Moreover, the preparation recovers normal flora and reduces the risk of infection recurrence.

Bioecolia is stable to abiotic degradation under normal pH conditions (3.5 - 10), rapidly biodegradable, and environmentally safe. It's a safe ingredient: acute oral toxicity LD50 > 2,700 mg/kg (non-toxic and non-phototoxic), non-irritating to skin and eyes, and non-sensitizing.
