Polyisobutene

Polyisobutene is a general name for a wide range of aliphatic branched-chain polymeric hydrocarbons C56 – C856. It is a clear, colorless, odorless, viscous liquid with a good safety profile.

Polyisobutene is used in sun and skin care applications to create a protective moisture barrier and impart a vibrant, emollient feel to the skin. It is compatible with lower viscosities and resists isoparaffins, while in combination with them, it provides a luxurious feel and allows for viscosity control.

Used in lip products, Polyisobutene improves wear and imparts a sheen. It has excellent spreading properties and can be combined with other aliphatic branched chain hydrocarbons and other ingredients to customize desired properties.

Polyisobutene is highly occlusive, providing barrier properties with long-lasting wear. It exhibits interesting properties and is compatible with other ingredients (silicones and many other cosmetic fluids), making it ideal for use in a wide variety of cosmetic and personal care applications.
