Dihydroabietyl Behenate
Dihydroabietyl Behenate is a fully vegetable-derived ester formed by the reaction of Dihydroabietyl Alcohol with Behenic Acid. It is semi-solid at ambient temperatures, oil-soluble, and water-insoluble.
Dihydroabietyl Behenate is a soft, amber-colored solid at 25°C, with a saponification value of 75–95. It is dispersible with natural and mineral oils and volatile silicones
Dihydroabietyl Behenate is an emollient that provides an excellent barrier with exceptional dermal adherence. Thanks to its hydrophobicity and viscousity, it is helpful in products such as lipstick and lip balms, stick makeup, mascara, antiperspirant sticks, night creams, sunscreens (to increase substantivity), and pressed powders (as a binder).
Dihydroabietyl Behenate is a very safe ingredient that has passed numerous toxicity studies. It is non-irritating to the skin and eyes, non-toxic even when administered orally, and non-comedogenic.Synonyms
