Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol

While Benzophenone-type filters have a good absorbance in the UV-B region, they do not block UV-A radiation efficiently. Therefore, a series of Benzotriazole filters for use in personal care products exhibit strong performance over the whole ultraviolet range. Water-soluble Benzotriazoles give better performance versus water-soluble Benzophenones for the stabilization of colors.

Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol is an oil- and alcohol-soluble UV filter. It is a non-ionic Benzotriazole deliberative in liquid form. Due to its broadband performance, it exhibits high efficacy, fully covering UV-A and UV-B light.

Thanks to its high photostability, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol provides long-term protection of products without discoloring (non-yellowing). Incorporated into a formulation, it increases product stability over the whole UV-A and UV-B range.

This additional protection in the UV-A range is critical to formulators because it can increase color stability. But just as important, broadband protection gives the formulator more options, allowing them to expand their color palette and utilize colors susceptible to degradation by UV-A.
