Botanical

Aesculin, also called Esculin, is a glucoside found in Horse Chestnut, a fruit of the Aesculus hippocastanum tree. Esculin is used in homeopathic medicine as a vein permeability-reducing and decongesting cure for Varicose veins and Hemorrhoids, reducing the pain and appearance.

In the skincare industry, Aesculin is used in formulations for eye and foot care to treat under-eye bags and spider veins. It tones vessels, increases skin microcirculation, and decongests the micro-vein network, decreasing dark rings and bags under the eyes.

Normal dermal microbiota can hydrolyze Esculin into esculetin, which has antifungal activity and is helpful against superficial mycoses of skin, hair, and nails (which affect 20-25% of the world's population).

Aesculin also has anti-inflammatory, anti‑allergy, and skin-protective (antioxidant) effects.
